Milk Sustainability Center wins AE50 Award

The Milk Sustainability Center (MSC) has been named one of the winners of the AE50 Award, a prestigious accolade recognising the top 50 innovations that demonstrate outstanding ingenuity and practical application in agricultural, food, and biological systems. Presented annually by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), this award celebrates technological advancements which increase efficiency, enhance quality, improve safety, and boost profitability – highlighting the crucial role of technology in transforming the industry and addressing global challenges.

Launched in October 2024, the MSC is a digital application created through a partnership between DeLaval and John Deere and developed by Dairy Data Warehouse BV (DDW). This advanced tool integrates data on crop and animal performance to help farmers improve their operations and reduce environmental impact, by tracking nutrient use efficiency (NUE) and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions across their farm, herd, and fields.

Lars Bergmann, EVP Digital Services, DeLaval, says: “Winning the prestigious AE50 award is a huge honour for us. Created in response to the industry’s need for sustainable practices to meet evolving sustainability standards and stricter regulations, the Milk Sustainability Center is the only solution of its kind on the market that offers automated data integration. Following the soft launch of the MSC last year, the solution continues to grow, with further rollout to other countries expected in 2025. We are proud to contribute to a more sustainable future for dairy farming by helping farmers do more with less.”

The AE50 Awards are chosen by a panel of international experts, who rank each innovation based on its creativity, engineering advancement, and market impact. The 2025 winners feature a range of solutions from machines, systems, components, software, and services that aim to make farming more resilient and sustainable.

The awards will be presented at the virtual ASABE Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference from February 9-12, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
